Abhinav Srivastava's Response and followups

I have been involved with Wikimedia community for more than 7 years.I have contributed, promoted and enriched the community in whatever best ways I could, beholding the fact that other engagements have kept me busy at times.I conceive that creating time and space for Wikimedia community would not be much of a problem. Moreover, considering I hold the academic and journalist background such subjects pertaining to Wikimedia could easily be handled by me.

Krupal Kasyap Palivela's Response and followups

Santoshi Tiwari 's Response and followups

 I am currently working with an organization “MIT kumbhathon”. In this organization itself we have Wiki community (I am leading team of 20) who works on different projects and activities. So Wiki related work or role for me is an integral part of community I am working with. With MIT kumbhathon, we conducted an event “Wiki takes Nashik” and uploaded 1500+ photos of Nashik on Wikimedia. By conducting several campaigns in schools, colleges and industrial associations, involving different communities, updated Nashik wiki page. Traveling to other cities/state/country is not at all an issue for me.

What is the main capability you bring to the EC if elected?

Abhinav Srivastava's Response and followups

I believe in the old school of face-to-face interactions, I strongly more interactions over Video Conferencing and local-community meetups. Over the years, I have realized that personal followups have been very limited in nature, although this could be boosted up easily. Financial Constraints are not always a hurdle.

Krupal Kasyap Palivela's Response and followups

My Expertise in Human Resource, with my PAN India network, I can bring more active editors. My experience as Industry institute collaborator will help to build more Wikimedia-Institutional associations

Santoshi Tiwari 's Response and followups

Gender gap is the main concern I would like to work upon and bridge the gap. I have good hold over Nashik’s different schools and colleges; I can therefore initiate Wiki Women community and take it to other cities as well. I am ambitious about involving more female editors, creating more women related pages. Different workshops/activities we can arrange in the city as I have good support from local communities/Organizations and Administration.

What would you do differently if elected?

(Picked from IRC 2014) Dbsr 11:31, 5 November 2015 (IST)

Abhinav Srivastava's Response and followups

Different sister projects of Wikimedia community do not work together. This needs to be worked upon. If any Indian Language Wikipedia project could speed up then why some of its sister projects (WikiNews) are in incubation.

Krupal Kasyap Palivela's Response and followups

Now we have Technology services like OCR, Input tools more affordable, attractive and feasible extract and Digitalization content in Indian languages, my focus would be more on Digitalization , I will start "My Village on Wiki" project to get information of every village like Village history, uniqueness , culture Heritage, statistics,Photos, Meta-info , Geo coordinates in Local, major Indian languages.

Santoshi Tiwari 's Response and followups

Along with engaging and encouraging more people to contribute to different Wikimedia sister’s projects in different languages and different data formats (Textual, pictures, audio as well as videos), I want to form Wiki Women community. Thereafter, I am looking forward to form Wiki Clubs in cities and villages, where wiki projects can prove to them opportunity to understand the concept to the core, hence educating people through such community clubs.

How would you ensure that the SIG groups are active, formalized and always connected to EC - community?

(Picked from IRC 2014) Dbsr 11:32, 5 November 2015 (IST)

Abhinav Srivastava's Response and followups

Need the encouragement follow ups. Major failures happen because contributors do not receive the due respect for their contributions.

Krupal Kasyap Palivela's Response and followups

SIG groups need have clear understanding of Wiki ecosystem before formation, We need to assist SIG with clear KRA's from EC community, communication and commitment must be clear while addressing core issues.EC community must be objective of its decisions to SIG and need to ensure there is no conflict of interest.

How are you going to use the varied experience domains of members for the growth of free knowledge in india

(Picked from IRC 2014) Dbsr 11:32, 5 November 2015 (IST)

Abhinav Srivastava's Response and followups

I have already answered this (informally). Need to enhance the communication process, video conferencing etc.

Krupal Kasyap Palivela's Response and followups

With my experience I believe every wikipedian will edit based on their interests , domain expertise. We need to send a formal mail to wikipedian to know the need of any hand holding for better understanding of Wiki system and its principles. Monthly interactions, Hackathon on specific domain expertise will enhance the growth of free knowledge. In few cases I observed that we need to respect editor rights of privacy and anonymity. we are not supposed to embarrass with our events, let Wikipedian will continue with their significant contributions with out any interpretations or interruptions!

Santoshi Tiwari 's Response and followups

To write about any keyword/topic, one needs to himself have better understanding about it, that’s where we can do first level of education. We can categorize members according to their areas of expertise, bring together different members from same domain and make them work together on pages/activities. (For example, Editors/members from Medical/Health background can be brought together to create/edit their domain related pages, Music lovers can be communized together to write related to Music). Through these articles and physically reaching (conducting Editathons) to different communities/cities/villages we can deliver free knowledge in India.

How do you plan to attract new Netizens to wikimedia

(Picked from IRC 2014) Dbsr 11:33, 5 November 2015 (IST)

Abhinav Srivastava's Response and followups

I plan to have more workshops and awareness campaigns. There is a wide communication barrier persisting today. This can easily be bridged.

Krupal Kasyap Palivela's Response and followups

We can conduct seminars and workshops on Wikipedia in towns, villages, cultural and professional associations. As per my observation many people assume that they must contribute scholarly articles to wiki in English, many of them don't know that they can contribute to wiki in their native language, for those we need to give exposure on writing systems in their native languages, motivate to create free knowledge, inform them that those articles are Editable, reviewed/ enhanced by other wikipedian to enhance quality. With programs like "My Village in Wiki" we guide them to update some specific easily available information like Photos, History, Statistics, census records, schools, hospitals, landmarks etc about their village. As a HR(Recruiter) I have access to rich base of People and Institutes :)
