14 December 2010

Mr. Kiruba Shankar, Virugambakkam, Chennai, INDIA

Dear Mr. Kiruba Shankar:

Subject: Cease and Desist – False Representations – Wikimedia India

It has, once again, come to our attention that you continue to make unwarranted and patently false representations as to the nature of your association with the Wikimedia India Chapter. The most recent example was of your visiting card, a copy of which is included, that states that you are a Director of Wikimedia India.[1] This is not the first time this has happened and you have previously publicly acknowledged that you are no longer associated with the Wikimedia India Chapter.

As you are not associated with the Wikimedia India Chapter as a Director, we demand that you immediately cease representing yourself as a Director, change or destroy all material that suggests otherwise and desist from making any such future representations.

If we have not received an affirmative response from you by December 24, 2010, indicating that you have fully complied with these requirements, we shall take further action against you.

Thank you.

Yours truly,

Executive Committee of the Wikimedia India Chapter

Barry Newstead, Chief Global Development Officer, Wikimedia Foundation
